Many Americans were shocked by the rhetoric and demands voiced during the immigration protests in the spring of 2006. From Los Angeles to Atlanta, from Phoenix to Chicago, an estimated two million protesters marched in more than fifty cities. They demanded a blanket amnesty for illegal aliens under the banner of "immigrant rights" and insisted that rights now afforded illegal immigrants should be granted to those here illegally.
